History

Phil Prichard began his distilling journey with a simple belief: Tennessee deserved a world-class, handcrafted rum. What started as a passion project quickly grew into Prichard’s Distillery, established in 1997 inside a restored 1939 schoolhouse in Kelso, Tennessee. With a commitment to traditional methods, small-batch craftsmanship, and exceptional ingredients, Phil created spirits that stood apart—first with his award-winning rums, and later with Tennessee whiskeys and the beloved Sweet Lucy line.

Over the years, the distillery has grown, welcomed visitors from around the world, and earned a reputation for quality and heart. Today, Phil still leads with the same hands-on approach and dedication that started it all, proudly crafting spirits with character, heritage, and true Tennessee soul.
